Job Duties:

Student will serve as a tutor for writing-related courses and provide assistance with study skills as needed. Depending upon previous training and/or ability, the tutor will assess student writing and provide feedback based upon instructional writing rubrics. The student tutor will also occasionally perform light office work such as making copies, shredding old essays, and scoring multiple choice assessments.

Skills Needed:

Student needs to have completed Comp 1 and received a minimum grade of "B".  The ability to maintain student/tutor confidentiality at all times is required.  Previous tutoring experience is a plus. The ideal candidate will be a creative self-starter who is comfortable asking and answering questions for and on behalf of the students.   


Providing a reference/recommendation email from a current or former instructor is preferred but not required.  Additionally, student may cite supervisor as a future work reference when pursuing a career in education or in any writing-related field.

Dress Code:

Student will represent the college while working and should wear clothing that is appropriate for a casual business environment. Refer to the student handbook and see supervisor for more information.
