First Year Seminar: With few exceptions, students beginning their freshman year at SCCC are required to take a First Year Seminar, or Return-to-Learn (for non-traditional students) course. This one credit hour course (Return-to-Learn is a two credit hour course) is designed to help the new college student explore advising & counseling services, majors, careers, personal learning styles, and more. The course lasts 1/2 of a semester, and many students enjoy taking the course early in the morning, so they have that extra time to study (or sleep in) for the last 1/2 of the semester.
Students who are not required to take the course may still do so; the credit will count towards a general elective course. Visit with your advisor to see if First Year Seminar is right for you!udents who are living on campus begin moving in Saturday & Sunday, August 20 & 21.
- First Year Seminar students MUST attend the Welcome Day events. For Fall 2005, the event will be held on Monday, August 22nd. All students are welcome to attend.
- Evening classes begin on August 22nd as well. Day classes do not begin until Tuesday, the 23rd.
