Q.     If I am planning on transferring to another school, or from another school, how do I start the process?
A.    Contact both the Office of Student Financial Aid at SCCC and the financial aid office at either your current school or the school to which you will be transferring to inquire about transfer policies.

Q.     What if I transfer mid-year?
A.     If you are awarded financial aid for the spring semester at a school you will no longer be attending, contact the financial aid office at that school and request that your spring financial aid be cancelled.

Q.     What about my Pell Grant?
A.     For Federal Pell Grants and any other federal aid, request your Student Aid Report (SAR) data be sent to the school you will be attending.  It can take 4 weeks for the new school to receive the SAR data.  You can request this by:

  1. Contacting the Federal Processor by phone at 1-800-433-3243;
  2. Adding the new school to Part 2, Step 6 of your SAR, completing the signature section and mailing it to the Federal Processor; OR
  3. Submit your request electronically at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  You must have a PIN # to make electronic transactions.

Q.     What about state aid?
A.     If you are receiving state aid, contact the Kansas Board of Regents for instructions at 785-296-3517.

Q.     What about scholarships?
A.     If you are receiving a non-institutional scholarship, contact the donor.  SCCC scholarships and grants are only available to SCCC students.

Q.     What about my loans?
A.     If you are receiving a federal loan, you must cancel the loan with the school you are now attending, and reapply at the school you will be attending.  Your new school will not be able to process your new loan until the previous one has been cancelled.  This can take from a few days to several weeks.

NOTE:  Although each of these steps take time, you do not need to wait until each task is completely finished to proceed to the next step.  However, you must expect and allow several weeks for everything to be accomplished.  Plan ahead!
