Welcome!

Welcome to the new blog of Seward County Community College/Area Technical School's Office of Student Financial Aid! We will be using this blog to communicate upcoming events and any changes in the world of student financial aid. Things in financial aid are constantly evolving as new regulations come through Washington, so be sure to check in frequently to keep up with the latest news.


Calendar

~ April 1, 2012: Scholarship Application Priority Deadline. Funds for scholarships and tuition grants are limited and are awarded to qualified applicants on a first come, first served basis.

~ April 2, 2012: Summer and Fall Enrollment Begins

~ April 11, 2012: FAFSA Frenzy!!! Stop by either of the AAC computer labs from 3:00-6:00 p.m. for help filing your 2012-2013 FAFSA. Be sure to bring both your parents' and your 2011 tax return and W-2 forms with you. We look forward to seeing you!

~ May 4, 2012: Last Day to Drop a Class and Receive a 'W'. Remember if you have a scholarship you are required to complete at least 12 hours and 67% of the classes you attempt each semester. Also, if you are currently on financial aid probation and were granted an appeal you must check with either the OSFA or your advisor prior to dropping any classes.

Financial Aid News

~ Beginning July 1, 2012 students whose FAFSAs are selected for verification will no longer be able to submit their tax return forms (1040, 1040A, etc.); they must instead request a tax transcript from the IRS. Instructions regarding this process can be found under 'Verification' on our website.
