What is TELENET2?
TELENET2 is a video conference network with 22 Kansas classrooms and worldwide connectivity. Each Kansas classroom is equipped with a Polycom video conference unit and a large monitor that can link to another unit around the corner or around the world in point-to-point or multipoint conferencing. TELENET2 bridging can link up to 20 sites simultaneously. Other video conferencing sites can connect with the bridge of other TELENET2 sites directly. TELENET2 was primarily built to bring educational opportunities to Kansans, but is used for a variety of programming. Its capabilities extend well beyond the state, linking national and international sites.
"It's a chance for the students and instructor to
reach across the miles and make it seem like we're
in the same room." -- T2 Instructor
Kansas State University and other Kansas Regents universities offer upper division and graduate courses on TELENET2.
The University of Kansas, Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC) provides statewide in-service training.
Other programming includes legislative updates, job training, administrative meetings, and even job interviews via T2.
