Machine Tool Technology

About the Program

The Machine Tool Technology program at Seward County Community College / Area Technical School prepares students for employment within the tool-making/machining industry. Students in Machine Tool Technology transform raw materials, like steels, aluminum, bronze, copper, composites and plastics, into working parts and assemblies.

This self-paced, performance-based curriculum lets you learn at optimum speed or slow down to a pace that is comfortable to you. You'll get your most valuable experience working "hands-on" with up-to-date equipment such as bench and hand tools and machine tools, including engine lathes, vertical mills, drill presses, grinders and CNC (computer-controlled machines).

Machine Tool Technology students get their training in the machine shop. Class projects and outside work provide a wide variety of skills and broaden the learning spectrum for each student.
