Cosmetology and Nail Technology

ADMISSION PROCEDURES

The following application process must be completed for all cosmetology and nail technolgy applicants:
  • Seward County Community College application. Application for Admission
  • Cosmetology application. Application for Enrollment—Cosmetology form
  • Complete a scholarship application. Scholarship Application
  • Complete FAFSA application at www.fafsa.ed.gov (Cosmetology only)
  • Meet with Financial Aid, and then submit the signed financial aid interview form to the cosmetology department. Financial Aid Interview form
  • Make an appointment with the admission office to take the COMPASS test or submit your ASSET/ACT scores.
  • Provide a copy of your high school diploma or GED.
  • Provide a copy of your college transcripts.
  • Provide a cover letter telling us about yourself and why you have chosen the Seward County Community College Cosmetology Program.
  • Provide three letters of recommendation.

Please be advised that after enrollment, and on the first day of class, a copy of your driver's license or a valid state photo ID and social security number will be required for the application of the cosmetology or nail technology apprentice license.

Cosmetology instructor applicants need to submit a copy of their current cosmetology license and the Seward County Community College application and the cosmetology application above.

 

Acceptance of students into the cosmetology and/or nail tech programs is dependent upon available openings in each program and the applicant's performance on COMPASS. The applicant may need to upgrade reading and writing skills prior to being admitted to the program. Two basic 1,500 hour cosmetology classes are accepted annually, with one class beginning in August and one class beginning in January. Two 350 hour nail technology classes are accepted at the same dates as cosmetology. Applicants for both programs should apply by June 1 for the August start class and by November 1 for the January start class.
