Degree Options
Accounting majors can pursue a two-year Associate in Applied Science or an Associate in Science degree from SCCC.
The degree programs are designed to introduce students to the profession and provide a solid foundation of general course work. Both degrees require students to successfully complete a minimum of 64 credit hours.
Students who choose the Associate in Science degree option must complete a minimum of 32 credit hours in the general education courses listed under the Associate in Science degree option, as well as, the 12 hours in their major field of accounting. Students who complete this program will transfer to a four-year college to complete their bachelor's degree.
Students who choose the Associate in Applied Science program must take a minimum of 45 credit hours in an occupational field of study in addition to select general education courses, including 6 credit hours in communications. Students completing this program will become accounting technicians with skills to enter the workforce as a junior accountant, accounting clerk, or bookkeeper.
